Character: Rea Sanka
Fandom: Sankarea

Character Notes:
Where I am starting the canon, Rea has yet to meet Furuya. As such, she is still alive. For now. Mwahahahaha! Also, fair warning, Sankarea as a canon has several dark moments such as mentions of borderline incest and character death. Any post that is related to these subjects will have warnings for players.

History:
Rea is the daughter of Dan'ichiro Sanka. Her real mother was crippled and met Dan'ichiro during a fencing match. Dan'ichiro loved her and even defied his family to marry her. Sadly, Rea's mother died giving birth to her and her father remarried to one of his maids who devoted herself to pleasing him and one day marry him, Aria. Dan'ichiro sees his late wife in Rea and as such Rea as lived a very sheltered life. Well, sheltered life is a gentle way to put it. He has fired maids, had stray animals disappear, and more to try and prevent Rea from being corrupted by the world. Needless to say, Rea's dad is overprotective but it gets worse as he is also...well, he's a creeper. Big time as he took pictures of her nude on her birthday under the pretense that he was measuring her growth. To make things harder, Aria found out about all of this and decided to give Rea the cold shoulder for her whole life. This is mostly due to the fact that Dan'ichiro's obsession with Rea has caused him to never give Aria the attention that a wife should get from her husband. It led to Aria being angry and jealous of Rea.

It wasn't until later in her life that Rea figured out that this wasn't normal. In fact, for a long time she thought everyone's family was like hers and everyone was just trying to hide the pain. So she remained silent about it out of fear of what might come from her telling someone. Finally, when she was in middle school, she finally was able to make her first friend. Eventually, Rea told her friend about her family and her friend told her to stand up to her father. When she tried to stand up to her father and gain some form of freedom though, things went bad. Her father ended up blackmailing the friend's family which ended up ruining the friend's life and Rea's friend blamed her for it. Rea never saw her again as the family was forced to move far away. Rea was told by her father that her resistance to his 'love' would just end up hurting more people. Rea ended up deciding that if her happiness came at the price of some else's, than she would just stay depressed.

Rea now is in Sanka Private Girls High school and she has been trying to smile through all the problems. She doesn't want anyone to worry over her out of fear that her father might step in. To make things harder for Rea, Aria is the head of her high school. Since her enrollment, she has been brought up as a school idol. This is partly due to the fact that she is a Sanka, but more so for her personality and gentle demeanor. The stress has been building up violently and Rea has recently been having very dark thoughts. To try and get rid of the stress Rea has taken up a recent activity in which she sneaks out and goes to an abandoned building and screams her sorrows into the nearby well.

Personality:
Rea is a very friendly person. She accepts people for who they are no matter how strange of a person they are (*Looks at Furuya*). She is rarely mean to anyone for anything and she will almost never outright hate anyone for what they do to her, no matter how cruel. She is a little awkward though when it comes to social interactions due to the sheltered life that was forced on her. She can be hesitant and indecisive towards others at first. When she gets more comfortable though, Rea is very playful and open to others. She is also an extremely loyal friend and will lay down her life to protect those that she sees as friends.

Rea is an extremely naive girl due to the sheltered life that was forced on her. She will take even obvious jokes seriously, will need some wordplay explained to her, and will need a bit more clarification on certain sensitive subjects. She will also miss subtle and some unsubtle clues. She also has a weird set of priorities. For example, she handles becoming an undead as less of a big deal than being in a boy's room for the first time. This said, Rea isn't stupid. She is a very intelligent student. She has good grades all around and is an idol at her school for her intelligence, grace, and beauty.

Rea has had very little freedom in her life and thus has not experienced things that most people would take for granted. She will want to try join in fairly normal activities and will be really excited if she can join. She will act similar to a happy little kid doing things like watching a movie or going shopping. Even more so if she is with friends. Truthfully, if she is just with her friends she will be happy even if they aren't actually doing anything.

Overall, Rea is a gentle girl who only wishes for one simple thing. To live a normal life and be happy with her friends and family. However, between the iron grip of her father and the distain from her stepmother, this wish seems to be unobtainable. This is causes Rea immense depression to the point that she just can't handle it anymore after so many years. This causes her to have some suicidal thoughts, even attempting suicide later on in the canon.

Other:
Rea starts out as the daughter of a rich family. However, once she dies things change drastically as she becomes unable to feel things (such as not feeling pain or being able to tell if water is hot or cold), loses any ability to heal, has to intake a kind of poison to keep animated, loses the limiter of strength in her brain, and more.

First Person (entry type):
It has been a few days since I met Furuya-kun and it has been really fun. He's a little weird but a good person. He is the first boy that I can call a friend too! It's really thrilling. I hope that he is able to succeed in making the resurrection potion. I'd like to meet Babu-chan when he is alive...Is that the right way to phrase it? Are zombies alive? After all, they aren't really dead are they? Oh well, I still want to see Babu-chan come back.

...But I hope Furuya-kun doesn't just succeed for Babu-chan's sake. I know it is selfish to think that but...I don't think I can take any more. Otou-sama is thinking of making me homeschooled. He believes that the girls at the school are a bad influence on me. It feels like his grip around me is tightening more...I think it will get even worse if he finds out about me sneaking out at night. I want Furuya-kun to succeed in raising Babu-chan because it means I can die...and when I die, Furuya-kun will give me a new life where I can be free. I know he will. He told me he would take responsibility.

Third Person:
Rea smiles at the moon that is high in the sky. She no longer has the ability to sleep so she grew fond of watching the moon cross the sky with Babu. She liked Babu from the beginning and Babu seemed to share those feelings but her and Babu had grown even closer during the passage of time. Maybe it had to do with the fact that the poison running in them was the same. Furuya really had accomplished something amazing. Rea's smile increases as she thinks about it. He was able to bring back Babu from the dead with his potion. But more than that, he kept his promise to Rea. She laughs a little as she remembers when Furuya asked his father if she could stay at the house. Thankfully, Furuya's family was very open to her living with them. It felt like her wish was finally coming true and if she had to die and become a zombie for it, well that was worth it in her mind.
